Procedures in this department

Type 2 Diabetes Surgery
The collective name for metabolic procedures aimed at blood glucose regulation. Assessment is made with endocrinology and rests on the metabolic picture rather than on weight alone.

Transit Bipartition
Alongside a sleeve, part of the food stream is directed to the final section of the small intestine. Its metabolic effect is prominent and endoscopic access to the duodenum is preserved.

Ileal Interposition
An advanced metabolic procedure in which a segment taken from the final part of the small intestine is moved to an earlier point in the digestive tract. It is considered in selected cases.

Metabolic Risk Assessment
A preparatory assessment covering blood glucose, insulin resistance, lipid profile, liver fat and screening for sleep apnoea. It is what any surgical decision rests on.
